Can MVP Cody Bellinger revive Yankees?
The New York Yankees are on the hunt for a outfield upgrade. The Chicago Cubs star Cody Bellinger could just be the guy they are looking for
The Yankees already had a big hit last summer by trading Joey Gallo in July of 2022. He was an underachiever and a bust for the past two seasons.
What will the Yankees do?
The Yankees have until August 1 to decide what they want to to do.
The Yankees most logical pick would be to add 2019 MVP Cody Bellinger to their roster.
The Yankees could really use his help especially since Aaron Judge is out for the season on a toe injury. Bellinger would really help the Yankees lineup as well as their outfield.
Bellinger is having a great bounce back season with the cubs. He has had .284 with seven homers as well as 25 RBO, while still a great defensive outfielder. Bellinger’s agent has said “Cody’s always been my comeback player of the year,”. Bellinger can also play first base as well so that makes him very versatile and even more wanted in the MLB.

Bellinger’s $17.5 million one year contract will be over for the deadline, meaning he will be available for the trade and the cubs are in for a fight.
There is also rumors that Marcus Stroman could also be going to the Yankees. But if the Yankees want to make any type of comeback they will need Bellingers batting skills.
But the Yankees aren’t the only one who want the MVP there are rumors saying that the Houston Astors could also use his batting skills. So without a doubt there will be a crazy bidding war over him.
The Yankees will have to pull out all the stps if they want Bellinger on their team. They will probably need to trade 3 or 4 of their best players. It also won’t be cheap for get Bellinger. It would cost the Yankees $9 million just on a commitment.
For only being 27 years old Belling has had an impressive career. In 2017 which was his first year in the MLB he .267 with 39 homers, 97 RBI, and .933 OPS in a 132 games with the dodgers. Bellinger was voted the National leagues MVP in 2019, he also was the Gold Glove right outfielder for the 2019 season. Bellinger would be a perfect fit for any team that wants to make an upgrade.
