Can Jayson Tatum Pull a Mircale against Brooklyn Nets?

The Boston Celtics came back from a 2-0 deficit to gain momentum and not lose to a clean sweep by the Brooklyn Nets. And I, for one, will say that the Celtics have a star on their hand. The Celtics clearly lucked out with Jayson Tatum. Because of his playing, there is no doubt he will be a future MVP in the league very soon.

Tatum may have had a slow start in these NBA playoffs, but being just 23 years old, Tatum is already putting up staggering numbers that we haven’t seen in a long, long time. In-game 1 against the Brooklyn Nets, Tatum had a menial 22 point game.

You could say Tatum’s performance in game 2 was horrible. He ended the night just logging 9 points and losing the game and a sizeable lead to the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the eastern conference playoffs.

But Jayson Tatum was quick to shut down his naysayers as he not only won the game, beating the Brooklyn big three, he did so by making a statement. Tatum went head to head with two of the Brooklyn big three. Harden and Durant both had excellent games, with Harden logging in 41 points and Durant ending his total at 39 points. But the night belonged to Jayson Tatum as he ended the night with 50 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds.

The Celtics struggle can be boiled down to the absence of Jaylen Brown, and it is quite evident as well. Brown was the team’s defensive leader and the team’s second option on offense as well. And since his injury, you can see the Celtics struggling on both sides of the floor.

There is a solid chance the Nets will be winning this series, but I don’t think there is anything that Celtics fans should bow their heads down on. They have a 23-year-old superstar in the making, and he will only get insanely better with time. Let me put it in perspective for you. Tatum is only 23 and is already having 50 point performances. Imagine how good Jayson Tatum will turn out to be when he actually enters his prime?

It might sound a bit far-fetched, but it seems like the Boston Celtics got a new version of what Larry Bird was to the team. Reliable shooting, excellent leadership skills, and a bit more athleticism than Bird. But that’s just me spitballing my thoughts a little.

But coming back to the point, the Boston Celtics clearly have a gem on their hands, and it is upto them how they choose to chisel it further. Jaylen Brown does a great job complimenting Tatum’s game when the two are on the floor together. It seems as if they have a certain understanding of each other’s game style and preferences.
