Cam Newton Might Join Jets Temporarily But He Won’t Work On A Discount

If the Jets came knocking for Cam Newton, the quarterback would have a number of questions for the team before signing a deal with them.

Cam Newton Might Join Jets Temporarily But He Won’t Work On A Discount

On the “RG3 and The Ones” podcast with former NFL quarterback and current ESPN commentator Robert Griffin III on Thursday, Newton shared what he would want.

Before considering any prospective offers, Newton stated that he would need to be well compensated to make things work.

Cam Newton stated his position, stating, “Going back to control? You not about to sit up there and penny pinch me, bro.” He firmly added, “I’m not about to sit up here and sign no $5.5 million deal bro, those days are over. I’d be squandering my time.”

Newton went on to emphasize that his decision was not solely about landing a spot on a roster, stating, “Because I will tell you, if you don’t think that I could be on a roster right now, I could but it’s bigger than that to me.”

He continued, “Am I in shape right now? Hell yeah. In any situation, I’m gonna sit up there and Imma analyze it as much as possible. I don’t want to walk  into a dysfunctional situation. Have you guys made Zach Wilson aware? also Aaron Rodgers is trying to come back this year, let’s also talk about that… so when he comes back is it just going to be something that you’ll say: ‘Watch out’? So it’s a lot of things, that I don’t just make impulse decisions.”

He had a 64.4 quarterback rating that year after throwing four touchdowns and five interceptions.

Zach Wilson’s performance in Sunday night’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, in which he passed for 245 yards and two touchdowns, drew a lot of attention.

The struggling quarterback had one of his greatest outings in a Jets uniform to date, which has quieted some naysayers for the time being.

Aaron Rodgers has stated that he would return late this season. He was seen tossing the football during the Jets’ Week 4 game against the Kansas City Chiefs, as well as walking on crutches on the sideline before the game began.

It’s quite improbable that Aaron Rodgers will be able to return this season, and there’s little use in forcing things if the Jets are out of the postseason race by December. However, he has been pushing so hard and has been so confident in his recovery that you can’t help but wonder if his comeback is conceivable.
