According to The Gazette, Sullivan’s comments “reveal the scorn” he has for “any female athlete, female coach, female journalist, every woman, period.”
The newspapers made the decision to “part ways” with their contributing columnist by Tuesday afternoon. They also issued a statement in which they stated that they “do not condone misogynistic, insensitive, or disparaging statements in any form.”

Joe Abouzeid, general manager of Channel 4, declined to comment on Sullivan’s status as a columnist for the station’s website on Tuesday morning.
A source claims that Sullivan was let go on Tuesday afternoon, but Nexstar, the company that owns Channel 4, has no plans to make the announcement. Sullivan was no longer mentioned on the station’s website as of Tuesday afternoon.

Sullivan launched into a rage during his podcast appearance, calling women “the worst fans,” in response to a written comment from a listener by the name of Amy.
“Hey, women, be better than this. Because the worst fans really are the women,” Sullivan said. “They don’t get critical journalism, they’re just, they all want to be cheerleaders, OK? You know what I mean? It’s always—it’s a dangerous avenue to go down, to criticize women in general, because they’re better than men generally, but—they don’t get it as fans.”

“I’d like to apologize for comments I made on a podcast last night that were uncalled for and insulting to women,” Sullivan wrote. “I should be better than that.”
