Bucs vs Cowboys Week 1 2022 Game Scores, Stats & Highlights: Tom Brady Gets off to a Winning Start as the Bucs Dominate the Cowboys
At the end of the 2021 season, Tom Brady shocked the world by announcing his retirement. However, to the relief of the Bucs fans, his retirement lasted only 40-days after which he announced that he would be coming back for yet another season of football. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are amongst the favorites to win the Lombardi Trophy this year, and their performance in game week one showed exactly why they are considered one of the favorites.
The Bucs opened the season on the road against the Dallas Cowboys at the AT&T stadium. This was the second year in a row that the Bucs have faced the Cowboys in the opening game week and handed them a loss.

To make things worse, America’s team will be without Dak Prescott for 6-8 weeks after he sustained an injury to his thumb, which will require him to go under the knife.
Tom Brady shines against the Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys did have multiple key players injured coming into the game, but that is not the reason why they lost. Tom Brady and his men were just too good for them. Both Mike Evans and new recruit Julio Jones created ample space down the field for Brady to work with who more often than not found Fournette who owned the backfield with nearly 130 yards on 21 carries.
Not speculating that it’s a dirty play, but it does appear that Shaq Barrett grasps & pulls down on Dak Prescott’s hand into extension.
Could be looking at a thumb/UCL sprain or index tendon injury.
These kinds of injuries have cost QBs quite some time in the past (Russ, Brees) pic.twitter.com/IPYlcKhOMz

Additionally, both Shaq Barrett and Devin White did an extremely good job of disrupting the pocket multiple times. The Tampa Bay defense also applied the pressure early and often suffocating Prescott and not letting him make the best passes possible.
Cowboys fans booing and throwing trash at an injured Dak Prescott? Sickening. Also zero coverage. If this happened in Philly the universe would explode. pic.twitter.com/xOB6c4GmIF

Similar to Aaron Rodgers in week 1, Prescott found himself leading an offense that just was not clicking. Star wideout CeeDee Lamb had just two catches entering the final quarter, while reserves like Noah Brown and Dennis Houston struggled to replace absent regulars like Michael Gallup.

The Buccaneers now hit the road for a clash against the Saints in the NFC South. The Cowboys, on the other hand, welcome the Bengals home as the only NFC East team without a victory. Things are just going to get tougher for the Cowboys are they prepare for a future without Prescott.
