Bucs’ Punter Jake Camarda Saves The Season In Closing Moments Against Panthers
Although Tom Brady and Mike Evans had outstanding games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their victory over the Carolina Panthers, their punter Jake Camarda may have made the play of the day on Sunday.
The Buccaneers had to punt with 42 seconds left in the contest. Jake Camarda prepared to kick, but the snap went awry. He was able to kick the ball away with his right foot by sprinting to his left.

Camarda was in position on 4th-and-10 with 42 seconds left in the contest at his own 41-yard line. Carolina had used all of its timeouts and behind Tampa Bay by six points.
To ensure that the Bucs defence could secure the victory, Camarda just had to encircle the Panthers offence within their own territory. Though the snap was weak.
Bucs punter Jake Camarda pointed out the closest thing he had to having to elude defenders like Sunday was a fake field goal where he ran as holder for Georgia vs. Baylor in Sugar Bowl. That was also on Jan. 1, three years ago to the day: https://t.co/NoUzKqkS5W

Zach Triner, the long snapper, threw the ball at the feet of his punter and it fell right in front of Jake Camarda, who froze in fear. The 23-year-old youngster first struggled to hold onto the ball.
Eventually, with Carolina closing in, Camarda was able to seize the stray ball.
Jake Camarda just made the greatest play I think I’ve ever seen by a punter

With roughly 30 seconds left, the Panthers would have had excellent field position if he had been sacked. With one extra point, they might have been able to score and win the game.
Camarda pulled off one of the year’s greatest athletic accomplishments because she was not going to let that happen.
Todd Bowles says Jake Camarda’s remarkable play on a botched punt Sunday was just instincts on his part. They had not practiced that situation.

As a right-footed punter, he rolled to his left, climbed the sideline, and kicked the ball away before being trampled. Not only did Camarda’s punt go cleanly, but it also rolled to the two-yard line, where it was declared dead.
Crisis avoided!
Ok, so after Jake Camarda was able to get a punt off, Andre Roberts takes a fair catch at the Carolina 8. Panthers have 26 seconds

Jake Camarda was a fourth-round pick out of Georgia in 2022. He was fresh off a national championship when he was named the starting punter. He’s appeared in all 16 games for Tampa Bay this season.
