The two will face off in the Elite Eight on Sunday for a chance to advance to the Final Four after meeting in the first round of the 2022 men’s NCAA tournament.
The South Region winner, who advances to the national championship round, will be decided between No. 6 Creighton and No. 5 San Diego State.
At the previous year’s competition, Kaluma and Creighton defeated Seiko and San Diego State in overtime, 72-69, to go through the opening round. San Diego State, owned by Seiko, will attempt to repay the favour this year.

The senior Seiko recently lauded Kaluma’s development and discussed the possibility of a family matchup on Sunday with the Final Four at stake.
“He’s been amazing this year, you know,” Seiko began. “To see him perform at the level he is with his team, it’s amazing. As a big brother, I couldn’t…you know…be more proud of him. I know that he’s capable of even more to come but you know, I’m happy for us and our family to be in the Sweet 16.
“You know, it’ll just be a surreal feeling,” Seiko said about a possible Elite Eight matchup with Kaluma. “You know, something I can’t even put into words, really.”
Seiko, who has played an important role off the bench for San Diego State this season, has averaged 20.3 minutes per game while scoring 6.2 points on 46.5% field goal and 46.1% three-point shooting.

How are Arthur Kaluma and Adam Seiko related?
Seiko and Kaluma are half-siblings. Eva Saira Ariko, their mother, is also their sister.
Although being of Ugandan origin, Kaluma and Seiko were both born in Boston. They left the Northeast quickly and settled in California when Kaluma was a little child.
In California, Seiko went to Sierra Canyon High School. Before entering high school, Kaluma relocated to Texas, where he began his high school education before completing it at Dream City Christian School in Arizona.

In the FIBA AfroBasket competition in 2021, the brothers participated as a unit for the Ugandan national team. Ariko attended the event to see her boys participate.
Growing up, Kaluma and Seiko spent a lot of time together, and basketball has strengthened their bond. In actuality, this will not be their first encounter since beginning their collegiate careers.
What was the last match the brothers played?
Against to expectations, San Diego State and Creighton have now met during March Madness in the only two seasons of Seiko and Kaluma’s careers that coincide.
In the first round of the NCAA Tournament last year, the Bluejays outlasted the Aztecs 72-69, mounting an impressive comeback to advance. Many San Diego State players and supporters would want to forget the game, but for Seiko, it was a memorable evening. He now has the opportunity to make it a tie and advance the Aztecs to their first Final Four.

Seiko scored five points off the bench for San Diego State, while Kaluma ended with 12 points and six rebounds for Creighton in the victory.
The meeting between siblings in the NCAA Tournament is uncommon, but it has happened before. As the Villanova Wildcats defeated North Carolina in the 2016 national championship game, Villanova star Kris Jenkins famously played against adoptive brother Nate Britt.
When San Diego State and Creighton both took part in the Maui Invitational earlier this season, Kaluma and Seiko had another opportunity to cross paths, but the bracket didn’t line up properly.

Seiko claimed that his mother was “ecstatic” before to the contest last year. She has one more opportunity to see her boys compete, and one of them will fulfil a lifelong ambition by making it to the Final Four.
