Broncos GM & NFL Legend John Elway Retires From Football, Is Looking Forward To Family Time
At the end of the 2022 season, GM Of Broncos John Elway, formally left his employment with the Denver Broncos. At the beginning of the new league season in March, his contract ended.
The Hall of Fame Elway spent more than ten years in the Broncos’ front office, serving most recently as a consultant to general manager George Paton.
He hasn’t officially indicated that he would like to work for another NFL team. Elway, who is 62 years old, seems prepared to retire from football.

In an interview with Woody Paige of the Denver Gazette, Elway seemed to be at peace with what he accomplished on the field and in the front office over the years.
“I don’t have that desire to climb another mountain again. I’ve been to the summit a bunch of times in 62 years,” Elway said.
“I’ll always be a Bronco and a fan, and I told [CEO] Greg Penner I’m here if they call on me for anything.”
Denver Broncos legend John Elway confirmed to 9News in Denver that he is no longer with the franchise after the expiration of his contract on March 15.

His primary focus going forward will likely revolve around his family and business ventures.
“I’ve got the restaurants and car dealerships and other (enterprises) to keep me busy enough,” Elway said.
“I want to play golf. The No. 1 trip on my bucket list is to Normandy. I’ve always wanted to go there. (His wife) Paige and I want to take a boat trip to the Greek Isles, and I’ll spend a lot of my time with my grandkids.”

“I’ve been with the Denver Broncos for so long that it was nice to have some sort of connection, which is what I wanted,” Elway told 9News about his consultant position. “I didn’t want an obligation. I’m getting a little older, I want to be able to do some things I haven’t done. I’m ready to have a flexible schedule.”

Elway retires from football having won three Super Bowls—two while playing quarterback for the Broncos and one while serving as a club administrator.
