BREAKING:- Marlon Vera Gets His Demand for a Big Match as Fight Against Dominick Cruz Planned for August
The UFC’s bantamweight division currently has the most champions in any division in the UFC. While there is only one reigning champion in Aljamain Sterling, there are five other former champions in the top 15 at 135-pounds. Dominick Cruz is one such champion who is hoping to regain his throne after losing his belt to Cody Garbrandt in December 2016.
After losing his title to Garbrandt, Cruz was out for the better part of four years. His return fight was for the bantamweight belt as he took on Henry Cejudo at UFC 249. ‘The Dominator’ was stopped in the second round of the fight, a stoppage he insists was premature to this day, and holds referee Keith Peterson accountable for the same.
2021 was a lot better for Cruz, who competed twice and secured wins against the likes of Casey Kenney and Pedro Munhoz that have put him at number eight on the UFC’s top 15 rankings at 135-pounds. According to recent reports, Cruz will face Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera next. The bout is being targeted for the main event on August 13th. The bout will have big implications on the division as the winner will cement their place as the number one contender in a division stacked full of talent.

A closer look at Marlon Vera vs Dominick Cruz
‘Chito’ is currently on a three-fight win streak. After a loss against Jose Aldo in December 2020, Vera turned a new leaf in his career. In his last three fights, ‘Chito’ has looked extremely impressive. Vera secured wins against the likes of Davey Grant, Frankie Edgar, and Rob Font, in his last three fights with his win over Edgar being one of the most devastating knockouts ever seen in the UFC.
Vera will have a two-inch reach advantage over Cruz in the octagon. There is no secret that Cruz has the better defense and is less likely to get hit, therefore it will be important for Vera to land a few good shots early on or he might be chasing a ghost the entire night as many have done in the past.
