Bobcats New Addition Brendan Hall’s Height Is Surprising College Football Fans

In April, one of Montana State’s top 2023 football recruits stood out on his official visit. When compared to their bigger football counterparts, that is uncommon for the majority of kickers and punters. Most kickers and punters are not like Brendan Hall. He is 6′ 8″ tall.

“I think everybody thought he was a basketball recruit,” MSU head football coach Brent Vigen said Wednesday. “He’s a long-levered kicker and punter, I know that.”

His height astounded everyone when he came out to kick an extra point early in the Bobcats’ game against Utah Tech since he is a huge person.

With all the strength he had in those long arms, Hall hammered the PAT straight through the uprights and into the scoreboard, as you might anticipate.

in fact. That pigskin may have entered orbit if that scoreboard hadn’t been placed where it was.

You begin to question whether a kicker with a longer leg would have an edge. The answer appears to be virtually probably yes.

Sonny Dykes, who is currently the head coach at TCU and most recently guided them to the national championship game, was in charge during his rookie year on the Hilltop.

“This kind of just seemed like the place,” Hall said. “Great coaching staff, great engineering school, a chance to grow and learn more about myself in a place that’s far away from home different than I’ve ever been before.”

After the first day of fall camp, coach Brent Vigen was quick to mention how impressed he was with Hall.

“He’s everything we thought as far as his leg strength,” Vigen said. “You know, kicking off, he has experience in games kicking off for two seasons, and what I’ve seen  it looks every bit impressive as we thought it would. And I think from a punting perspective, he punted two years ago at SMU, that’s been very impressive.

Hall had a little part at SMU last year before using the transfer portal at the end of the campaign. In 2021, he kicked 36 punts, but as a sophomore, he made zero attempts. He served as the Mustangs’ primary kickoff specialist for both seasons.

A few months after Leighton’s retirement from football and roughly five months after Glessner’s move to UCLA, Hall made his commitment to the Cats. One of two punters on MSU’s roster when he relocated to Bozeman in May, Casey Kautzman, a native of Butte, concentrated on kicking during the spring season. The other kicker on the team, walk-on Myles Sansted, did as well.

Hall expects to be a strong replacement, no matter how many roles he plays.
