On Saturday, Tim Mayza, a relief pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays, was supporting his club in a different capacity than he usually does on the mound.

As a penalty for finishing last in the team’s fantasy football league, Mayza was made to bat for the Blue Jays against the Philadelphia Phillies during Toronto’s spring training game.
Mayza was had to wear a special jersey showing the 4-10 record of his fantasy club as part of his punishment.

Maybe Mayza will be motivated to do better in fantasy football the next season as a result of his penalty.
Despite having top Dolphins wideout Tyreek Hill on his team, the article stated that Mayza, the longest-tenured Blue Jay, was done in during the football season, in part because to the season-ending injury to Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins.
With Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings suffering a season-ending injury, Tim’s fantasy football season apparently collapsed, despite the fact that he still had elite players like Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill.

“He’s not willing to trade and not willing to change,” said Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen, the eventual fantasy champion. “I was trying to get Tyreek Hill from him for weeks, maybe even a month. It’s great. It’s all good fun.
Mayza, who has had three straight seasons of excellent play, will be an important member of Toronto’s bullpen this year as the Blue Jays attempt to go past the wild-card stage for the first time since 2016.
He’ll be concentrating on helping the Blue Jays win now. Mayza just had a season in which he recorded 53 strikeouts in 69 innings while posting a career-best 1.52 ERA.
