Bills Star Damar Hamlin is Speaking Again as He Facetimes His Teammates After Being Critical For Days

Damar Hamlin needs immediate emergency medical attention after collapsing on the field during Week 17 Monday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals after tackling wide receiver Tee Higgins. Higgins began the play by catching a pass from Joe Burrow close to the 50-yard line and running downfield while leading with his right shoulder, which struck Hamlin in the chest.

Damar Hamlin, the defender, made a tackle by encircling Higgins’ head and shoulders with his arms to knock him to the ground. Hamlin briefly stood up after the play before collapsing and sliding backward.

Damar Hamlin is out of critical condition

And maybe Damar Hamlin is talking. He is awake, attentive, active, and communicating. For the first time since being sent to the hospital, Hamlin’s breathing tube was withdrawn on Friday, and the Buffalo Bills safety spent the morning FaceTiming with teammates and addressing the whole squad.

The 24-year-old is still “critically unwell” in the hospital, according to doctors at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, but on Wednesday night he was able to question who had won the Bills’ game versus the Cincinnati Bengals by writing to them.

The Bills have also verified rumors that Hamlin used FaceTime to join the squad meeting on Friday morning and deliver a crucial message. It’s the first time anybody has talked to Hamlin since his cardiac arrest on Monday during the first half of the Bengals game.

In Cincinnati, Damar Hamlin had to be resuscitated on the field before being taken to the hospital, where he spent most of Wednesday unconscious.
