Bills HC Sean McDermott Calls Out People For Criticising The Team For Not Having Super Bowl
Josh Allen is a terrific quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, who are still vying for a Super Bowl championship, but head coach Sean McDermott doesn’t think his lack of playoff success should be the only factor used to evaluate him.
Bills HC Sean McDermott Calls Out People For Criticising The Team For Not Having Super Bowl
“I think like anything, when you talk about the Bills, whether it’s Josh, myself, our team, we’ve had so much success,” McDermott told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero during the annual league meetings on Sunday. “What’s left for Josh and for all of us is to take that one more step that we need to take. To say we haven’t had success or Josh hasn’t had success, I think would be kind of narrow-minded.”
He continued by defending his quarterback in particular.
The #Bills got a guy who can not only play close to the box, but has good instincts and can play center field.

“To say we haven’t had success or Josh hasn’t had success, I think would be kind of narrow-minded. It’s hard to win in the NFL, so you kind of regroup every year, and you take it one game at a time,” McDermott argued. “But we’re all looking for Josh to really be that face of the franchise, like he’s been, and continuing to evolve, like he’s always done.”
McDermott is right when he says that it is difficult to succeed in the NFL, particularly when one is a quarterback in a league that includes quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Lamar Jackson. It’s also not a mark against anybody to lose a Super Bowl in a five-year span; these games are unique and uncommon.

The Bills have won four straight AFC East crowns and five straight postseason trips. Nevertheless, Buffalo has only participated in one AFC Championship Game during that span (2021), and in the previous three years, they have lost in the Divisional Round.
Despite criticism for Allen’s postseason problems, McDermott stated the club believes he would eventually overcome his setbacks.
“It’s hard to win in the NFL, so you kind of regroup every year, and you take it one game at a time,” McDermott stated. “But we’re all looking for Josh to really be that face of the franchise, like he’s been, and continuing to evolve, like he’s always done.”

The Bills are now experiencing an annual financial crisis as a result of Allen’s deal taking up a significant amount of their salary cap space, which led to some significant adjustments this offseason. It’s quite probable that they’ve already missed their greatest chance to prevail.
The Bills remain a fantastic team. Easily among the NFL’s greatest. However, they have only a few minor shortcomings that keep piling up and hindering them while playing against the few teams that are on par with them.

They’ve made great progress. It does seem a little lackluster, though, since this core has only appeared in one AFC Championship game and hasn’t made it to the Super Bowl in the previous five years.
