Biggest Sports Contracts Of All Times: Golf Player Jon Rahm Joins The List
Enjoying sports, cheering for teams, and honouring accomplished athletes are immensely popular activities worldwide. Profit comes from that desire, just like in other sectors. Indeed, it’s now believed that the sports sector is worth about $500 billion! Playing for a large team and becoming a celebrity in any sport—football, soccer, basketball, or baseball, for example—can be extremely profitable. Naturally, the sport has a big impact on how professional athletes contracts are formed.
Biggest Sports Contracts Of All Times: Golf Player Jon Rahm Joins The List
Lionel Messi has the biggest soccer contract ever, valued at $673,919,105. It’s also the biggest contract in sports ever. Patrick Mahomes has a football deal of $503,000,000, which is about $200 million less than the highest football contract ever. Third position belongs to the biggest baseball contract of all time, which is a 12-year contract for Mike Trout paying $426,500,000.
Jon Rahm on the LIV format:
“Yeah, obviously there’s been a bit of a change. There was a lot more about LIV Golf that was attractive to me, right. Yeah, maybe the format was a set back in the past, but at the same time there’s a lot of positives to it as well. And one of the… pic.twitter.com/Q5kOxS5bWK

In one swift move, Jon Rahm has made his way into that gallery. His deal with LIV Golf, the Saudi circuit, blows up the cash registers. He will receive a flat $520 million over four years, not including event profits. Still, there are examples of all different kinds.
More than $300 million is Rahm’s deal to play for LIV Golf, according to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach.
Rahm won 11 times in his eight years on the PGA Tour, four of which came in the 2022–2023 season. In 2020, he achieved the highest rating as well, which he maintained for 52 weeks. During his tenure on the PGA Tour, he earned more than $51 million.
The LIV Golf Invitation Mayakoba in Quintana Roo, Mexico, is the first event for LIV Golf, taking place in February.

Every morning, the dollar pays a visit to Jordan’s kitchen. After every conceivable baseball had escaped his grasp, the greatest basketball player in history went from making $455,000 as a rookie with the Chicago Bulls in 1984 to $30,140,000 when he returned to the floor in 1996.
However, Jordan’s huge basket was made off the floor. He agreed to a sponsorship deal with Nike in that momentous 1984, which included what at the time felt like a small but important stipulation. Jordan would get five percent of the proceeds from each pair of sneakers sold under his brand.

The Buss-Magic partnership
Other scalpels were used at the Lakers’ homes. Owner Jerry Buss, a doctor, was already Magic Johnson’s elder companion in and out of his bedrooms in 1981. Magic was a 2.06 point guard, a planetary aberration with a smile fit for a commercial, and Buss was surrounded by vedettes, confetti, and Hollywood stars.
Amidst a clandestine conflict with the Boston Celtics and a coach supported by sticks like Paul Westhead, Buss sent an offer to Magic Johnson for a 25-year deal at $1 million year, spanning from 1984 to 2009. Although the enormous qualification quickly ended, it had a significant influence on American sports. Magic turned into a lifelong Laker.

Babe Ruth
Babe Ruth, commonly known as “The Kid,” one of the greatest American athletes of all time, got bitten by the Big Apple. The Boston Red Sox ace pitcher, batter, and player was also a symbol of vice, whether he was seen in brothels, on street corners, or in casinos.
Ruth was transferred to the New York Yankees from the Red Sox in 1920 in a still-controversial deal.
The Yankees renewed their contract in 1927 for a whopping $70,000 a year, which raised eyebrows in the community because it was more than even President Calvin Coolidge’s salary. Ruth became a historical figure, a bit more than a classroom teacher.

Messi & Ronaldo
Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were bound to make an impression on the accounts after nearly ten years of rivalry at the top of sport. The newspaper “El Mundo” reported in January 2021 that Messi had a 2017 contract with Barcelona that guaranteed him 555,237,619 euros over the course of four seasons. At that time, no football player could have imagined earning that much.
The world scene has not yet witnessed the Arab push to entice football players. In the Portuguese example, he chose to migrate to Saudi football after making holes in the goal nets of competing teams. Cristiano signed a two-and-a-half-season contract with Al-Nassr to begin this season, during which he might get almost 600 million euros.
🚨 Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly informed Al Nasser before traveling to the Portuguese national team that he wants to renew his contract until the beginning of 2027.

Patrick Mahomes
Like Mahomes’ contract, Mike Trout’s 2019 12-year, $426.5 million contract with the Los Angeles Angels was the largest in sports history at the time. Mike Trout’s years of outstanding play culminated in this agreement. Seven Silver Slugger Awards and two Hank Aaron Awards later, the center fielder reached his contract extension as a two-time American League MVP. Trout will be the franchise’s main pillar for the next ten years thanks to this record-breaking contract.

Muhammad Ali
Cassius Clay, in the fisticuffs showcase, is outstanding as Muhammad Ali. Every brawl, when he was already a four-edged-tongued social saint, was more significant than the towels flung. There is content in his trilogy with Joe Frazier for an entire season on a single platform.
Naturally, the first encounter between the two, which took place in 1971, was termed the fight of the century. After splitting their 2.5 million dollars apiece, Ali and Frazier decided to use the ring to fulfill their shared goal of putting their opponent to death. Ali signed a contract for $4.5 million to compete in the ‘Thrilla in Manila’, the show’s finale, four years later.
