“Bigger Than Football”: Tennessee Titans DT Jeffery Simmons, Who is Yet to Get a 2nd Contract, Gives Back to the Mississippi Community
In order to get one step closer to signing a new deal with the Tennessee Titans, Jeffery Simmons has made a crucial move. Jason Hatcher, Simmons’ uncle, who played in the NFL for 10 years with the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins, was brought in to aid Simmons, who had not previously had an agent.
To assist him in negotiating his next deal, Simmons has hired a group of consultants and negotiators from Walking Business Sports Group. Although the Titans chose to exercise his fifth-year option earlier in the offseason, it is not surprising that Simmons wants a long-term contract.

Despite having earned a second contract, Simmons has not yet received one. Despite this, he continues to make sizable donations to the organizations that supported his rise to success.

As part of his week-long visit to his home state, Simmons made improvements to the system that would enable other local children to realize their full potential just as he has.
“It’s bigger than football,” Simmons said.

“It’s not all about just these young kids seeing us play on Thursdays, Monday nights and Sundays. These kids matter. The town of Starkville matters. The town of Macon matters.”
He opened the Jeffery B. Simmons Field House in Macon, which had been refurbished thanks to his generosity. He donated $75,000 to the Starkville Parks and Recreation Department to build a new grass field. It will also be given Simmons’ name. This week in Starkville, he also held his third annual youth football camp.
Simmons’ 8.5 sacks and 12 TFLs in 2021 helped the Titans’ defense become one of the strongest in the NFL. Simmons is valued at $84.1 million over a four-year contract, according to Spotrac. In the fourth year of his rookie contract, in 2022, Simmons will earn a little over $2 million.
