Bengals LB Germaine Pratt Lost his Temper At Teammate Joseph Ossai For Roughing the Passer Penalty

Germaine Pratt could not hold his frustration back.

The Bengals linebacker was captured on camera yelling in frustration about the Joseph Ossai penalty for hitting Patrick Mahomes out of bounds on Sunday, which led to the Chiefs’ game-winning field goal.

In the Cincinnati Bengals locker room, there is a noticeable feeling of unease. After Joseph Ossai’s costly penalty resulted in a game-winning field goal, their season came to an abrupt end. The majority of the teammates felt sorry for the young defensive lineman because he gave all during the game. As they were making their way into the locker room, Bengals LB Germaine Pratt, however, had other plans and exploded at Joseph Ossai.

“It’s the motherf–kin’ last series,” Pratt screamed out. What the ****. Why the f–k did you touch the quarterback?”

The ball was moved from the Bengals’ 43-yard line to the 28 after the penalty with 8 seconds left. The Chiefs won 23-20 and advanced to the Super Bowl 2023 with to Harrison Butker’s composed kick from 45 yards out.

Prior to the penalty, Ossai, 22, had a solid game, constantly applying pressure to a hampered Mahomes. Ossai was clearly devastated by the game-changing penalty as CBS cameras saw him on the bench following the game with his head in his hands. He also appeared to have injured his knee during the action, as medical personnel responded to him.

“Yep ppl will post anything on social media for likes and views,” Pratt, 26, wrote on Instagram in response to a posting of the video. “I have real feelings sometimes they are raw. If you love something as I do sometimes things will be said in the heat of the moment. But I know what type off [sic] teammate I am. And what type of man I am. Trust me no love lost. I’m hurt. Remember some ppl with hate you, rate you and shake you and try to break you but I will stand tall like always.”

It’s a bad look for Germaine Pratt for him to blow up on his own teammate after a loss like that. Clearly, anger is at an all-time high since the Bengals felt as though the officials were treating them unfairly during the entire game. Patrick Mahomes’ injury prevented the defense from getting to him as much as they would have liked. That does not, however, imply that you should yell at a member of your own team, particularly if you are an experienced player.

Other Bengals teammates, including ex-Giant B.J. Hill, stood next to Ossai in the locker room as a show of support.

“These guys mean a lot to me and to know that they have my back is extremely … it’s giving me peace right now,” an emotional Ossai told reporters.

“It was great to have the support of my teammates. I’ve got to learn from experience and I’ve got to know not to get close to that quarterback when he’s close to that sideline. I’ve got to do better.”

Ossai was a third-round pick out of Texas in the 2021 NFL Draft.
