Bengals CB Eli Apple Fires Back At Tom Brady: “The Future Is Now, Old Man”
Prior to their Sunday afternoon clash, Tom Brady, the Buccaneers’ quarterback, made some disparaging remarks about the Bengals’ defence.
The Cincinnati Bengals’ 34-23 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was one of the NFL’s Week 15 surprises. Tom Brady lost his third career game after leading by 17 points, this time to Tampa Bay, who had a 17-0 advantage.
In an earlier episode of his Let’s Go! podcast, Brady described Cincinnati’s defence as “pretty tough.”

Brady said: “Great team. Great young quarterback, fairly tough defense. Good skill players. They do a lot of things well. We’re going to have to put everything we’ve got into it,” Brady said last week.
Eli Apple of the Bengals knew precisely how he wanted to respond when questioned about the opposing quarterback’s performance after Cincinnati’s comeback 34-23 victory.
According to Apple, through WLWT, “He was fairly okay, but not good enough to win.”

Apple said: “Got to get that old man tap dancing, man. Got to get him out of the pocket and get him uncomfortable.”

When he entered the tunnel following the game, defensive tackle B.J. Hill added to the talk. Remember that we’re quite tough on defence, Hill yelled. Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic captured the event on camera.
The Bengals stopped Brady and Tampa Bay to just six points in the second half after being down 17-0 in the first. Brady threw two interceptions and one touchdown.

Hill echoed Brady’s words from earlier in the week when questioned about the Bengals’ comeback victory and how they managed to pull it off.
“We just knew we were a fairly tough defence,” Hill said. “That’s how we played in the first half, though, not going to lie to you.”
The Bengals felt free to play around with the quote since they were able to disprove Brady and the Buccaneers. After the victory, Cincinnati holds the third AFC playoff berth and continues to lead the AFC North.
