Belichick On Mac Jones Injury: “What do I look like, a doctor?”

Nothing appears to be going perfectly for the New England Patriots at the moment, which has led an irate Bill Belichick to vent his anger once more on the media.

The New England Patriots are not having the greatest of days right now. The numbers 1-2. They have fought on offence. And this week, they most likely won’t have quarterback Mac Jones.

“Day-By Day” Is All We Can Get From The Manager Belichick Right Now

Belichick isn’t telling, so we must add “probably.” He won’t even admit that Jones has a high ankle sprain, despite the fact that this has been mentioned a few times since Sunday when Jones was knocked down by Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Calais Campbell with his leg awkwardly bent. In evident discomfort, he was brought to the locker room.

Belichick didn’t deviate from the work at hand during his news conference on Wednesday. He was determined to tell reporters that the club was taking things “day by day” in regards to quarterback Mac Jones’ injury.

When the questions kept coming, Belichick went into full Grump Mode.

What do I look like, a doctor? An orthopaedic surgeon? Like, I don’t know,” Belichick said. “Talk to the medical experts.”

Belichick was asked what the Patriots’ medical staff had said about it.

“Day by day,” Belichick said. “What difference does it make to me? Do you think I’m going to read the MRI? That’s not my job.”

Belichick said later that Jones is “getting better day by day,” which is a little bit more information and as much as we’ll get from him.

Every coach receives a report on injuries from the medical staff, frequently during matches. Nobody who is even remotely knowledgeable about football thinks that Belichick is unaware of the potential length of his quarterback’s absence.

Belichick simply dislikes discussing injuries, and he probably got tired of saying “no comment” two decades ago. Jones hardly said anything this week because he doesn’t like his teammates discussing injuries either.

History has shown us that high ankle sprains typically last several weeks. We’ll simply take it day by day for now, though.
