Beer is more important, as a man saved his glass amid the fight between the fans at UFC 289

Not every hero dons a cape. Some people don ball caps and black jeans.

That was made clear Wednesday night at UFC 289 in Vancouver, British Columbia when a fight started in the audience. It became obvious that a few beers might be spilled as fists started flying.

A hero was then created.

According to reports, that hero was John Mayne, also referred to online as “@Tradermayne.” The well-known cryptocurrency and stock trader tweeted a video of the brawl in the crowd as well as his own beer-saving feats.

Men and women alike tried their best to replicate Saturday night’s Octagon competitors, but Mayne moved quickly and brought his beers to safety without losing a drop.

Beer at the UFC Probably Wasn’t Cheap

Our hero has shown numerous times that he is no fool. First and foremost, picture the agony of getting dragged into a fan brawl. The possibility of getting your ass kicked exists at all times. You’ll most likely be arrested as well as being ejected from the arena. In addition, if the altercation is recorded on video, your future humiliation may be immortalized online.

Oh, and beer is not inexpensive. Why drag them into the conflict? The Rogers Centre in Vancouver hosted UFC 289. While the menu from the in-arena sports bar, suitably dubbed The Sportsbar, is available online, concession pricing is not.

I’m going to presume that neither Mayne nor anyone else in the arena was consuming Bud Light. If so, nobody is trying to save those distilled catastrophes. Therefore, disregard any $8 beverages (yes, I doubt Budweiser, big Brother, were involved either). These beverages appeared to be 14 ounces in size. If these are really 22-year-olds, I could have a drinking issue. But that is irrelevant at this point.

In any case, I’m going to calculate that our hero saved himself between $17 and $20 based on the pricing list. Perhaps more crucially, he avoided making a second trip to the bar, standing in line and squeezing through a busy arena to get back to his seat.

There wasn’t much action in the fan fight itself. All of the shoving, pushing, and holding one another back was as violent as an NBA brawl. Perhaps the beers would have been perfect. But then, why take a chance?
