“Been Doing It Ever Since”: Warriors Coach Steve Kerr Blames 11X All-Star For Manipulating the Referees Over the Years

Max Strus led everyone with 24 points, Butler scored five consecutive baskets late to give Miami the lead, and the Heat overcame Stephen Curry’s triple-double to defeat the Golden State Warriors 116-109 on Tuesday. With three of those errors being stopped-dribble calls on Jordan Poole, Golden State’s 20 mistakes were converted into 28 Heat points. In the Warriors’ 116-109 loss to the Miami Heat on Tuesday night at FTX Arena, Jordan Poole received more carry violations than the whole Miami Heat squad. Steve Kerr wasn’t happy with the decisions.

Poole scored nine points in the final 30 minutes while recording the lowest plus/minus on the squad. The umpires’ insistence on ending dribbling had a noticeable impact on Poole’s performance. And the Warriors led by Steve Kerr failed to anticipate it.

Steve Kerr reacts to Jordan Poole’s three carry violations vs Heat

Here’s how Steve Kerr reacted: “I was shocked because basically the whole league does that. They’ve been doing it ever since Allen Iverson convinced the referees that it isn’t a carry. It is a carry. What Jordan does is a carry. But the whole league has been doing it.”

If it’s going to be called, it ought to be called on both ends of the court, Draymond Green agreed with Steve Kerr. After the game, Poole posted a series of subtle jabs at the referees on his Instagram account, making it apparent that he wasn’t satisfied with the decisions. By the text of the law, all three of the calls on Poole were valid.

Poole palmed the ball three times in the fourth quarter and appeared to become frustrated. But as he emerged from a ball screen, he unquestionably took an additional stride in between dribbles. Draymond Green, a forward, observed that whereas Poole had three cautions for carrying, the Heat only received one. Green remarked that if the officials are going to make a call, they should do so in both directions.
