Walker, who is in his second season with the organization, follows former defensive coordinator Alan Williams as the second assistant coach to depart the Bears in the middle of the season.
Aside from setting themselves up for excellent 2024 draft selections, the Bears’ 2-6 record has been bad this season, but their odd coach turnover has made it much worse.

He has worked as a running backs coach in the NFL with the Colts (2011–14) and the Lions (2016–18), as well as at the university level with Syracuse and Pittsburgh.

Walker, 53, began his career in the NFL in 2011 and remained the RB coach until 2014. He spent some time coaching high schools in Indianapolis before joining the Lions in 2016 as their RB coach, a position he held until 2018.
In 2022, Walker was hired by the Bears to teach running backs.
Last season, the Bears led the NFL and amassed the most running yards in team history.
