Baltimore Ravens J.K. Dobbins States Presence of Lamar Jackson and Better Playcalling Would Have Secured Them a Win Against the Bengals

In one of the most intriguing matchups of the season, the Cincinnati Bengals took on the Baltimore Ravens in the wild card round of the playoff this season. It was billed as a potential clash between two of the best quarterbacks in the league in Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson.

Unfortunately, for the Ravens, a knee injury that took longer than expected to fix meant that Jackson could not make the playoff game. The Ravens eventually ended up losing the game 24-17. The officiating during the game received a lot of scrutiny with both players as well as coaches lamenting over questionable play calls.

Would the result have been different for the Baltimore Ravens against the Cincinnati Bengals?

After the game, Baltimore Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins stated that bad playcalling and the absence of Lamar Jackson cost them the game. He said, “I’m a guy who feels like if I’m on the field all the time, I can help this team win, and I wasn’t. It’s the playoffs. Why am I not out there? Twelve carries? It’s the playoffs. If we had Lamar, we would have won, too,”

Dobbins also felt that Tyler Huntley shouldn’t have been the one trying to put the ball into the end zone when he had a game-changing fumble that the Bengals returned for a touchdown. He said, “He should have never been in that situation. I don’t get a single carry. I believe I would have put it in the end zone, again,” The difference in the game was ultimately the fumble by Tyler Huntley which the Bengals converted into a touchdown.

For the Baltimore Ravens, they now enter the off-season with their star man Lamar Jackson wanting away. If the game against the Bengals is any indication to go by, the Ravens will need to open the purse and give Jackson exactly what he wants. Ravens without Jackson is not a team that can make playoffs.
