Baker Mayfield, Wife Emily Filled A Petition To Investigate Their $12 million Financial Fraud

Attorneys for Baker Mayfield and his wife Emily submitted a petition to a Texas court on Tuesday asking for details on a possible $12 million financial fraud at an investment firm where many members of the Mayfield family are employed.

The petition requests financial data from 2018 from the Travis County District Court and lists numerous defendants, including Camwood Capital Management Group, Camwood Ventures, Texas Contract Manufacturing Group, Unitech, Apex Machining, and Lor-Van.

“Petitioners simply do not know if their money has been properly and competently invested, has been stolen or otherwise misappropriated, or something in between,” the petition reads, via KXAN.com.

According to Spotrac, after being selected first overall in the 2018 NFL Draft, Baker Mayfield has earned slightly under $50 million in total money. In the off-season, he agreed to an 8.5 million dollar, one-year deal with the Buccaneers.

Since they are only attempting to learn more about the $12 million, the Mayfields do not currently have any plans to sue anyone. Mayfield’s immediate family members are also listed as witnesses in the petition.

“On information and belief, a substantial sum of Petitioners’ assets were transferred out of Petitioners’ personal accounts to TCMG, potentially at the direction and supervision of Camwood Group and/or Camwood Ventures, and were used by TCMG to fund certain investments, make certain acquisitions, or to fund certain loans. Other of Petitioners’ assets were transferred directly to Camwood Ventures and invested in various entities on behalf of Petitioners,” the petition reads, again via the same source that is KXAN.com.
