Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young fined $25,000 for throwing ball into the crowd during celebrations
The NBA penalized Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks, an All-Star guard, $25,000 on Monday for throwing the game ball into the crowd. Trae Young couldn’t help but laugh at the most recent fine he was assessed by the NBA.
Due to a last-second floater by rookie A.J. Griffin, the Hawks defeated the Bulls 123-122. Atlanta’s victory was crucial since it allowed the team to end a three-game losing run.
Trae Young paid a price for this Sunday’s victory over the Bulls. After the game, Young threw the basketball into the seats, and the NBA fined him $25,000 on Monday.

Young grabbed the ball as soon as it went through the hoop and threw it into the crowd in jubilation. Young tossed the ball in the joy of the hard-fought victory rather than out of rage, but he still technically broke the rule and was punished and fined as a result.

This wasn’t the first time that a player is punished for a case like this. It’s obvious that the NBA has punished and charged for such conduct before. The NBA has a history of fining players who throw the ball into the crowd; for example, in a similar incident, the league fined Celtics forward Grant Williams $20,000 on Saturday.
Following the imposition of a $25,000 fine by the league office, Trae Young, the All-Star point guard for the Atlanta Hawks, seized the social media spotlight with his funny response to the NBA’s reprimand.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Young wrote on Twitter “Sorry to the Hawks fan(s) who got a chance to touch the game-winning ball. Didn’t know I couldn’t do that,” he added a lot of laughing emojis as well.
Young took to Twitter to express his disappointment as well as to chuckle about his penalty. He wasn’t happy that he was being charged for a celebration.
In the same tweet, he added “can’t celebrate s**t anymore” Young did not appear to be particularly concerned about this penalty based on his tweet. Most recently, Trae Young missed the Hawks’ game on Monday night because of a strained lower back.
The Hawks’ away game against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday will be his next opportunity to play.
