The Houston Astros pitcher was asked what his pre-start ritual would entail before his most recent postseason start in the ALDS.

During the postseason, Verland went through his everyday routine and mentioned that he ordered meals after receiving some rest.
Verlander said he would go to bed early to ensure he got enough sleep, and that afterward he would get a cheeseburger and a chicken Caesar salad before heading to Starbucks, probably for coffee.

Verlander mentioned that the location of his cheeseburger consumption fluctuates based on the success of his shows. The 40-year-old pitcher claimed that he once started a game well by leaving his filthy plate out, but he later developed a persistent superstition around it.

The Astros selected the seasoned pitcher to start the much awaited series because he is accustomed to the strain of postseason baseball. His August comeback to the Astros has further strengthened their pitching staff, as seen by his impressive 7-3 record and 3.31 ERA in 11 crucial starts in August and September.
