Arizona Rattlers’ Braxton Haley outlines ambition to play in the NFL, guide his current team to playoffs

Braxton Haley, a wide receiver with the Arizona Rattlers, has wanted to play football professionally since he was five. The second-year IFL player grew raised in Athens, Georgia, and played NCAA football at Illinois State University, Notre Dame College, and Dodge City Community College.

In 2020, Haley received his degree from Illinois State and began searching for opportunities to play football. In Arizona, he located one.

Haley told The Republic on Thursday, “I graduated college back in COVID. “I worked and exercised at home for a year. I received a call from my agent asking, “Do you still want to play football?” I said, “Yeah.” Do you want to travel to Arizona to play, he then asked? I needed to consider it for a few hours before I could call him back and say, “Yeah, let’s do it.”

Haley claimed that in order to fulfil his ambition of playing professional football, he and his father travelled from Athens to Phoenix. Haley, though, hopes to advance his abilities in the NFL and believes the IFL will enable him to do it.

This league is about growth, Haley remarked. “Over the past few years of working here, I’ve really increased my skill set. Additionally, practising and playing football every day helps you improve. It benefits you to accomplish something each day.

Despite undertaking additional training outside of Rattlers’ sessions and sending highlight DVDs to coaches, Haley claimed he is searching for new representation to help him connect with NFL coaches.

The Rattlers’ leading scorer in receiving touchdowns in 2022 is the 25-year-old. He and quarterback Drew Powell are the only offensive players to have played in all 15 games this year.

Kevin Guy, the head coach of the Rattlers, has observed Haley’s growth over the previous two years on both a cerebral and physical level. Guy claimed that although Haley occasionally exhibited immaturity during his first year in Phoenix, he has now acquired the attitude of a professional athlete.

As the season progresses, Guy said that “he’s been improving.” This year, he “really kind of came out of the closet,” becoming a better player. Compared to his first season, he is treated much more seriously. He has acquired professional skills.

The Rattlers defeated the Northern Arizona Wranglers on July 2 by a score of 40-28 to retake first place in the Western Conference. If the Wranglers win their next two games and the Rattlers lose on Sunday, they may still secure the top seed in the playoffs.

Arizona, though, wants to control its own fate. It’s definitely a wonderful position to be in, Haley concluded by stating. “I just want to finish strong, I want to end the season on a high note, earn this win and get ready for the playoffs.”
