Are Zach Wilson and the New York Jets out of playoff contention?

The New York Jets suffered their eighth loss of the season on Thursday Night Football in Week 16 when they fell to Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Robert Saleh’s side fell to fourth place in the AFC East with just two more weeks of football remaining.

The Jets have lost four games in a row now and their chances of reaching the playoffs are at 10%. This is primarily because of the poor form over the past few weeks. Following Mike White’s injury, quarterback Zach Wilson has struggled to lead the team and it’s been quite a dire time for New York.

Wilson has more interceptions than touchdowns this season and put in another horror show against the Jaguars on Thursday. He was also benched for his disastrous outing and was booed by the fans at MetLife Stadium. Wilson was able to start in the past two games only because of White’s injury, he was the first-choice quarterback for the team at the start of the season but was benched last month.

New York Jets schedule for remaining regular season games

The Jets will face the Seattle Seahawks for their first game in 2023, in Week 17 of the NFL season. They will play their final regular season game against the Miami Dolphins in Week 18.

As things stand, the Jets will need to win all their games and hope for other results to go their way if they want to make it to the playoffs. The New York outfit also has a conundrum over who to start as their quarterback for both games.
