Yaqub Talib fatally shot Michael Hickman, 43, on August 13, 2022, following a brawl during a minor football game.
Aqib attended the sentencing on Monday in a Dallas County courthouse where his elder brother was given his punishment, according to TMZ.

As Yaqub Talib was informed of his destiny inside the courts, he maintained a solemn expression.
A disputed call on the field started the brawl that ultimately resulted in death. The Talib brothers allegedly assaulted Hickmon, who was coaching the other side, after suddenly terminating the game in the middle of a heated argument, according to a complaint brought by Hickmon’s family.

Yaqub Talib allegedly pulled a firearm during the altercation and shot Michael Hickmon numerous times, which caused multiple bullet wounds that were deadly.
Hickmon had numerous gunshot wounds, including one to the back. Yaqub Talib was recognized as the shooter by witnesses.

Both Talibs are defendants in a civil complaint that also names other parties. Despite the fact that Aqib was not legally accused, he can be held liable in court for the tragic death of Hickman.
The Talib brothers’ involvement in the terrible occurrence stunned the neighbourhood and garnered national attention.

Talib was about to start a job with Amazon as part of the Thursday night package when the incident took place. He stepped aside from the assignment eight days after Hickmon’s death.
Soon after the incident, 40-year-old Yaqub was accused of murder; this month, he entered a guilty plea.

The former NFL star was described as “very distraught and devastated over this terrible loss of life” by Aqib’s counsel in a statement at the time of Hickmon’s passing, however, the former Super Bowl winner has not spoken out about it all since.
Meanwhile, according to the prosecution, victim impact statements were delivered at the sentencing hearing on Monday by Hickmon’s wife, sister, and college roommate.
