Antonio Gates Snubbed By Pro Football Hall Of Fame
NFL fans quickly saw one glaring omission from the 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame class when it was announced on Thursday night. NFL fans were taken aback by Gates’ exclusion because he is regarded as one of the best tight ends of all time.

Without a doubt, the list of players that were selected this year is amazing. Randy Gradishar, Steve McMichael, Andre Johnson, Devin Hester, Dwight Freeney, and Julius Peppers are among those who appear in it.
One obvious omission, though, is Antonio Gates, a former tight end with the Chargers.
How is Antonio Gates not a first ballot NFL Hall of Famer?

🔹️11, 841 receiving yards (3rd)

In November, Gates told TMZ that he thought he would be inducted, but he was left off of a list that includes contemporary honorees like as Dwight Freeney, Julius Peppers, Devin Hester, Andre Johnson, and Patrick Willis.
“You never want to have the thought process you can’t get in,” Gates said. “The mental part of it is that in order for you to be the best, you got to think you the best. Ever since… I feel like mentally I belong in there, but at the end of the day you got to let it play out and you can control what you can control and we’ll see how it goes.”

Without a doubt, one of the best tight ends of all time is Gates. At 116, seventh overall in NFL history, he continues to hold the record for the most receiving touchdowns by a tight end.
Gates was a member of the Chargers for his entire 16-year NFL career. Apart from those touchdowns, he also recorded 11,841 yards receiving on 955 catches, and in the postseason, he was awarded an additional 51 grabs for 540 yards and two scores.
All of this occurred after Gates, a collegiate basketball player who did not play football in college, entered the NFL undrafted in the 2003 NFL Draft.

Next year, Antonio Gates will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It is available for booking. But given that he’s perhaps the third-best tight end in NFL history, he ought to have been elected to the Hall of Fame on the first vote.
Meanwhile, congrats to the class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame for this year. I hope Gates receives the approval for next year.
Is Antonio Gates a first-ballot Hall of Famer?
It is a complete farce and a source of great shame that Antonio was not elected to the Hall of Fame on the first ballot.
Antonio Gates is clearly one of the best Tight Ends in the history of football, and him not getting elected as a 1st ballot Hall Of Famer is a disgusting travesty. pic.twitter.com/UBamBbK4iJ
