“Anthony Davis had a brain fart” Later Sheepishly Apologized For Foul, Defeated Timberwolves Regardless

“It’s unfortunate that A.D. has a brain fart and messed [Schröder’s] game-winner up,” Lakers star LeBron James told TNT’s Allie LaForce in a postgame interview. After getting teased by James, Davis owned his mistake.

“I messed [Schröder’s] game-winner up. I apologise. I definitely apologize,” Davis said after getting pulled into the on-court interview.

The Lakers defeated the Timberwolves 108-102 in overtime on Tuesday night in Los Angeles to win the NBA play-in tournament.

But for the hosts, the triumph brought more concern than was required.

The Lakers trimmed down Minnesota’s advantage in the third quarter after trailing by as much as 15 points before tying the score with roughly two minutes remaining. The game looked to be all but over until Dennis Schröder sank a three-pointer from the left corner with 1.4 seconds left in regulation to give Los Angeles a 98-95 lead.

With 0.1 seconds remaining, Minnesota point guard Mike Conley Jr. missed a three-point attempt from the right corner, which was unfortunate for the Lakers’ star forward Anthony Davis. Conley was then given three chances at the free throw line and a chance to tie the game.

To force overtime, Conley duly made all three of his shots.

The Lakers were able to chuckle about the episode afterwards due to Los Angeles’ eventual triumph.

James led the Lakers with a game-high 30 points, along with 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks, and a shooting percentage of 57.1%. On 52.6% shooting, Davis contributed 24 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and three blocks. Schroder, meanwhile, contributed a critical 21 points.

The Wolves were spearheaded by their standout centre Karl-Anthony Towns. Towns ended the game with 66.7% shooting for 24 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 blocks.
