Anna Kournikova Handled Her Love Triangle Scene With Perfection. Know About It

When the Russian tennis player Anna Kournikova took the world by storm at the turn of the millennium, there were plenty of guys on the planet who would have given their right arm for the chance to be in a relationship with her. A couple of NHL players even claimed they each managed to do that at the same time, giving us a love triangle that’s still as bizarre as it was back then.

Kournikova made her WTA Tour debut when she was just 14 years old, and although she never quite reached the heights of the most dominant player in the world, she did reach a singles world ranking high of No. 8 in 2000 and win a few Grand Slam doubles matches while partnering with the illustrious Martina Hingis.

It’s clear that Kournikova’s abilities on the court put her on the map in the first place, but it doesn’t take a genius to see why she was so well-liked by many guys who followed her career for reasons that didn’t actually have much to do with how she performed on the tennis court.

That apparently includes fellow Russian natives Sergei Fedorov and Pavel Bure, two players who became well-known in the NHL. We were given a very remarkable exception because of the narrative the trio found themselves at the center of, even though that league doesn’t frequently produce drama arising from the personal lives of its players.

At the same time, there were rumors that Pavel Bure and Sergi Fedorov had been dating Anna Kournikova.

Prior to defecting to the United States and signing with the Red Wings in 1990, Fedorov lived in Russia. This was the beginning of a remarkable NHL career in which he won three Stanley Cups and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Bure followed a comparable path to the NHL; he played with Fedorov at CSKA Moscow and made his NHL debut with the Canucks in 1991 after a protracted legal dispute over his eligibility (Vancouver ultimately outwitted Detroit, which had hoped to draft the player who would eventually be known as “The Russian Rocket”).

The pair never played together in the NHL, but they did rejoin on the ice in 1998 as Russia’s representatives at the Winter Olympics in Nagano, where they earned a silver medal after falling to the Czech Republic in the final. They also won a bronze medal in 2002.

According to rumors that emerged after the love triangle in question ended, Fedorov and Kournikova got engaged when she was 18 years old in 1999 (which would suggest Sergi, who is more than 11 years her senior, started courting her before she reached that age; it’s believed they first met when she was 15). Sergi is more than 11 years her senior.

According to the media, Bure and Kournikova started dating that same year (despite the fact that he was “only” ten years older than the teen). The news that Bure allegedly proposed to her at a restaurant in Florida in 2000 (the winger was cautious to confirm the rumors at the time but also didn’t openly refute them) must have been less than exciting for Fedorov, whose engagement to the tennis star hadn’t yet been made public.

At different tennis competitions, Fedorov and Bure were spotted watching Kournikova play from the stands. She frequently traveled to Sunshine, Florida to see Pavel play for the Panthers, and a photograph demonstrates that she was present when Sergei and the Red Wings celebrated the 1997 Stanley Cup victory with her there.

However, when Enrique Iglesias, a new guy, entered the picture in 2001, things took even another change. She and the singer gave the world one of the most difficult album debuts of that year thanks to a video that showed the two of them making out and acting sexy and heavy in various settings.

Despite never being married, the couple has been together ever since and has given birth to three children in the course of a relationship lasting more than two decades.

It’s unknown when Fedorov and Kournikova got married; in 2001, her spokesperson denied they’d made things official after a report arose stating they’d done just that. Fedorov said they had divorced in 2003, although it’s unclear when they were married in the first place.

Bure eventually wed the Russian model Alina Khasanova in 2008, while Fedorov briefly teamed up with Tara Reid after his breakup with Kournikova before settling down with Corrina.
