Angels’ Anthony Rendon activated from IL, Mike Trout returns
The Los Angeles Angels activated third baseman Anthony Rendon from the injured list Monday ahead of the team’s contest at the Texas Rangers.
Rendon, who will hit fourth, was out with a hamstring injury and had not played since April 10 at the Toronto Blue Jays.
Prior to the injury, Rendon was hitting .290 with one home run and three RBI in eight games.
The Angels will also get Mike Trout back after he missed the past three games with elbow soreness. Trout, who is batting. 393 with six homers and 12 RBIs, will hit third Monday night against Texas starter Jordan Lyles.
The Angels optioned infielder Luis Rengifo to the alternate training site to open the roster spot for Rendon. The 24-year-old Rengifo is 1-for-14 (.071) in four games this season.
