After becoming the top-ranked recruit in school history, Reese signed with the Maryland Terrapins, but a damaged right foot ended her 2020–21 freshman season. As a sophomore, the Associated Press named her to the third team of All-Americans.

After moving to LSU for her junior year, Reese was selected unanimously to the first team of All-America players. Being named Most Outstanding Player, she guided LSU to its first-ever national title.

Reese broke the records for the most double-doubles in an NCAA season and the most rebounds in an SEC season. Reese assisted the United States in winning a silver medal in the 2023 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup on the international front.

She is thought to be among the college athletes who make the most money from likeness, image, and name partnerships.
