Andy Reid Remains Tight Lipped Despite Increasing Reports Linking the Kansas City Chiefs to Odell Beckham Jr

When it comes to free agents in the NFL, not many are higher in profile than Super Bowl-winning wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. While many teams have been rumored to be interested in his services, over the past few weeks, the Kansas City Chiefs have emerged as front runners to secure the services of the veteran wide receiver.

The buzz around the Kansas City Chiefs and ‘OBJ’ started when tight end Travis Kelce shared on his podcast that his contract with the team was restructured. He also went on to add that he hoped Brett Veach, the team’s general manager, would secure the services of Odell Beckham Jr.

In a recent press conference, head coach Andy Reid was asked to share his comments linking the two parties. He said, “I can’t get into all that. He’s a heck of a football player, that I can tell you. I don’t know where he is as far as his rehab goes and that whole deal. I don’t really know what (General Manager) Brett (Veach) is (doing). Brett’s always maneuvering. He keeps his eyes open on everything.”

Reid continued, “In my position, I’m like (motions forward) tunneled in on what I’m doing and trying to get the team ready to play with the guys that we’ve got. I’m not going to slight (OBJ), he’s a good football player.”

Could Odell Beckham Jr be the difference-maker for the Kansas City Chiefs?

Reid’s recent comments suggest that he has no involvement with the front office negotiations. In the off-season this year, the Chiefs have lost arguably one of the best wide receivers in the league in the form of Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins.

While their offense has not suffered a great deal due to the loss, the addition of Odell Beckham Jr will not hurt at all. At this point in time, the Kansas City Chiefs are 4-2, six games into the season. In their most recent outing, they lost 24-20 to the Buffalo Bills who are heavy favorites to win the Super Bowl this year. Next up for Andy Reid and his men are the San Francisco 49ers.
