Watch: An Old Video Shows Former President Of USA At The 2001 Daytona 500
In 2020, Donald Trump created history by being the first sitting president to attend the Daytona 500 and by being the first to drive the presidential limo around the 2.5-mile superspeedway. The other president to do so was George W. Bush.

However, it wasn’t Trump’s first visit to the Great American Race.
Additionally, he was there for the 1999 NASCAR season opener, when he welcomed Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, who was the race’s grand marshal.

While browsing Elon’s Twitter, I came across some newly discovered footage from the 2001 Daytona 500, which I assumed was a result of the algorithm.
And when I refer to “resurfaced footage,” I mean that someone posted an hour’s worth of camera footage from the garage before to, during, and following the 2001 Daytona 500 on YouTube.
If you came for the Dale Earnhardt content, move on to about the 3:30 point. At that point, Dale’s garage is visited by these two heroes, who examine the No. 3 Goodwrench machine.

For the last time, there it is, in the real world. That’s all there is to it. The final time the automobile will ever be in the garage is at that moment. Crazy. At around the 13-minute mark, they return to Earnhardt. You can listen to him fire up that bad boy around the 16-minute mark.
Trump Additionally, on February 18, 2001, he was present in the pits during one of the most notorious Daytona 500 runs.
Of course, Dale Earnhardt’s terrible death on the final lap of the race following an accident in turn four will always be remembered by NASCAR fans. It transpires that Donald Trump witnessed it firsthand.

Though I recently discovered some home film showing the future president socializing in the pits on that fateful day, I was unaware Donald Trump was at that race.
Though this was obviously before he was elected president, Trump was nevertheless able to get attention in 2001 by posing for photos on pit road ahead of the race.
Was Trump at the 2001 Daytona 500?
In 1998 and 1999, Trump attended the races; in 2001, he attended the Daytona 500 for the fourth time in a row. Additionally, he has been making a number of suggestions to get into NASCAR, such as building a Trump Motor Speedway in Bridgeport, Connecticut, as part of a complex that would also include a restaurant, retail store, and hotel.

What were Dale Earnhardt’s last words?
Esquire reports that there is a story that Earnhardt said, “Look at them boys go,” over the vehicle radio just before he passed away. This is presumably a reference to Earnhardt Jr. and his running companion who were speeding ahead of him at the time of his death.
