Amidst Increasing Pressure, Denver Broncos Head Coach Nathaniel Hackett Hires 40-Year NFL Veteran to Help With Game Management

The Denver Broncos have had a rough start to the season. In the opening game, Russell Wilson lead Broncos succumbed to a loss against the Seattle Seahawks. In game week two, the team bounced back with a 16-9 win over the Houston Texans. Despite the win, the pressure has been mounting on head coach Nathaniel Hackett and Russell Wilson as well.

It appears as though Hackett has taken the necessary steps by not only admitting his weaknesses but making the right hire to help him with the same. Mike Klis tweeted saying, “After saying he wanted “more efficient decisions” w/gameday operation, Nathaniel Hackett is backing words with action. Per source, Hackett hired widely respected 40-year coach Jerry Rosburg to assist on game management. Huge hire. Rosburg spotted at practice this wk. #9sports.”

Rosburg spent time with the team during Friday practice and the decision was announced later that day itself. His first game will be against the San Francisco 49ers this weekend. Rosburg will sit in the booth and communicate directly with Hackett during games.

Jerry Rosburg is a well-respected assistant coach and a long-time special teams coordinator. He started in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns from 2001 to 2006, then with the Falcons in 2007 and the Ravens from 2008 to 2018. He was Baltimore’s associate head coach and helped the team reach great success, including winning the Super Bowl in 2013.

Nathaniel Hackett and Jerry Rosburg to get the Denver Broncos back to winning ways?

A lot has changed for the Denver Broncos this season. Earlier this season, the team was acquired by Rob Walton for a staggering $4.65 billion and in addition to that, the team has a new coach and a new quarterback as well.

The transition phase will take some time before the results start to show but the Broncos management has taken extremely quick and decisive steps to make sure that they are moving forward in the right direction. It will be interesting to see the immediate impact Rosburg has on the team.
