Amid Potential Break Up With Cam’Ron Fletcher, Angel Reese’s Future with LSU Discussed by Kim Mulkey

The Louisiana State University Lady Tigers are currently enjoying a successful season with a notable 24-4 record, securing them the second position in the SEC. The team’s remarkable performance can be largely attributed to the stellar contributions of key players Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith. Despite both being in their senior year, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on eligibility has provided them with an additional year to consider for the next season.

LSU’s head coach, Kim Mulkey, recently addressed the media in anticipation of the team’s upcoming game against the Georgia Bulldogs. One burning question revolves around whether stars Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith would choose to utilize their additional year of eligibility. Coach Mulkey, known for her straightforward approach, expressed her stance on the matter.

Kim Mulkey breaks silence on Angel Reese’s future

Mulkey made it clear that she does not intend to actively influence the players’ decisions. She acknowledged that both Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith had communicated their initial plans when joining the team, with Angel expressing her intention to stay for two years and Hailey for one. While Mulkey highlighted that the players are aware of the option to return for an extra year due to COVID-19 eligibility, she emphasized her commitment to respecting their individual choices.

“I don’t know if I’ll have a conversation with them. Angel said when she came here she would stay two years and Hailey said she’d stay one. I’m not the type of coach to sit people down and tell them which agents to pick or talk them out of what they want to do,” Mulkey stated. “They know they have the COVID year to come back and they would be more than welcome, but I try to stay away from having any kind of influential conversation, particularly with Hailey and Angel because they made it perfectly clear when they came what they wanted to do,” she further added.

Reese’s journey with the LSU Lady Tigers began when she transferred from the Maryland Terrapins after the 2021-22 season. Since then, she has played a pivotal role in securing the national championship title for LSU during the 2022-23 season. Beyond her on-court prowess, Reese has garnered attention for her off-court endeavors, with recent speculation surrounding a potential breakup with her boyfriend, Cam’Ron Fletcher.

On the other hand, Hailey Van Lith, who previously played for the Louisville Cardinals, has undergone a significant transformation under Mulkey’s guidance this season. Mulkey’s influence has been evident in Van Lith’s change of position and overall athletic development. Van Lith’s growth makes her a key player for the Lady Tigers as they aim for back-to-back championship titles.
