American Tennis Sensation Coco Gauff Fires at Marta Kostyuk’s Husband Heorhii After Debacle at Australian Open
The spouse of Marta Kostyuk, a Ukrainian player against American tennis player Coco Gauff, appeared to attempt to make fun of Gauff during their quarterfinal match on Monday. Gauff, 19, responded with a satisfying clap.
Gauff advanced to the semifinals by defeating Kostyuk 7-6 (6), 6-7 (3), 6-2 in a contest that lasted more than three hours.
Heorhii, Kostyuk’s spouse, appeared to be making fun of Gauff’s first name when he was spotted courtside sporting a hat that read “shake your cocos” and featured an image of a crushed coconut.

With a heart and grinning face emoticons, Gauff captioned her Instagram Story with her triumph “shakey shake.”
Nevertheless, Gauff acknowledged that she did not perform at her peak during the game.
“Today was definitely a C-game,” Gauff said. “Didn’t play my best tennis but really proud that I was able to get through. Hopefully got the bad match out of the way and I can play even better.

“… I knew going in, playing her, it was (going to be) a tough match. She’s pretty athletic, and we kind of play similar. Today she was just more offensive, which I wish I was taking the offense from the beginning.”
In November of last year, Kostyuk, 21, wed Heorhii in Cyprus.
With Monday’s match, Kostyuk advanced to the Grand Slam quarterfinals for the first time.

The match will be a rematch of the U.S. Open final from September, which Gauff won 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 to win her maiden major championship.
