After Chiefs Win Over 49ers The ‘NFL Rigged’ Conspiracy Theorists Got So Much More To Say

During a 13-play drive in overtime, the Kansas City Chiefs emerged victorious in Super Bowl 58. We’re all asking, “Were the Swifties right?” at this point.

After Chiefs Win Over 49ers The ‘NFL Rigged’ Conspiracy Theorists Got So Much More To Say

The fact that neither team scored in the first quarter and both teams committed turnovers may have contributed to the game’s unfortunate beginning, which finished 25–22. However, conspiracy theories about Taylor Swift and her fortunate No. 13 looked all too genuine as the Kansas City Chiefs trailed the San Francisco 49ers 10-3 after a field goal late in the second quarter.

A joke from departing CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus that stated, “The NFL has alerted us that, for the first time ever, we will have a double overtime game [in the Super Bowl]” was shared earlier this week by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

According to The New York Times, McManus also joked, saying, “You pay $2.1 billion, you get double overtime.”

Additionally, a second overtime period would have been required to decide the winner if Patrick Mahomes hadn’t found Mecole Hardman in the end zone to seal the Chiefs’ 25-22 triumph.

“NFL is basically the WWE now,” Will Compton, a former NFL linebacker and current “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast host, wrote in a post on X.

“All scripted. Fixed. They pick who they want to win. It’s all for entertainment & honestly I don’t even know why I watch & care so much. It’s all fake.”

Swift’s “lucky Super Bowl,” according to fans, despite Brock Purdy, the great quarterback for San Francisco, wearing No. 13. The pop artist used to mark her birthdate—December 13—on her palm as a way of honoring the number.

Ice Cube’s son, actor O’Shea Jackson Jr., even commented on the anomaly due to the widespread conjecture.

“That Taylor Swift 13 conspiracy is wiiiiild,” he said in a series of posts on X, formerly Twitter. “I’m sorry but that is (expletive) incredible and I really enjoy it.”

Even President Joe Biden replied to the crowd in jest on X and Instagram, posting the meme “Dark Brandon” along with the remark, “Just like we drew it up.”

“Taylor Swift won the Super Bowl and next she will win the election for President Biden,” was one sampling of a popular response to Biden’s tweet.

After the Chiefs’ thrilling divisional-round matchup with the Bills in January 2021, the NFL amended the overtime rules to enable both teams to have the ball at least once, barring a safety or defensive score. This Sunday’s game was the first to require the new rules.

After the 49ers’ 13-play, 66-yard drive (7:38) to start overtime, the Chiefs responded with a 13-play, 75-yard drive that chewed up nearly all of the remaining time.

That was close enough for odd suspicions about the outcome being predetermined to sprout and for McManus’ remarks to reappear.

Conspiratorial thinking has already been directed against Swift, Kelce, and the NFL. After far-right websites created memes using Swift’s songs, the singer has been accused of queerbaiting—hinting at LGBTQ+ identification without coming out—and having neo-Nazi allegiances.

When Kelce supported the COVID vaccination, he became a target of “killer injection” claims from vaccine skeptics. Furthermore, others have asserted that the NFL is rigged and scripted. Conspiracy theories frequently develop in reaction to political events.

Conspiracy theories frequently develop in reaction to news, entertainment, or political events. Furthermore, there is a perfect storm created by the union of two American institutions: the NFL and Taylor Swift.
