The Bucks lost to the Miami Heat in the NBA Playoffs, and the two-time NBA MVP, 28, was unable to help them take the title back from the Warriors. Miami decisively defeated the Bucks 4-1 last month to win the series.

Despite earning the top seed during the regular season, Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks were unable to go past the opening round. Of sure, the Greek Freak should bear some of the responsibility. On social media, Antetokounmpo responded to inquiries regarding a trade with Golden State with a revealing statement. Giannis even seemed to toy with the concept, which will only increase talk of a blockbuster deal. Antetokounmpo has also come under fire despite being one of the NBA’s superstars, and sent a sharp warning to his detractors following the Bucks’ season woes, saying: “I’m tired of the disrespect. I’m coming.”

According to ESPN, Antetokounmpo is unlikely to agree to an extension with the Bucks this summer. In 2020, Antetokounmpo agreed to a $51.9 million (£41.7 million) player option as part of a five-year, $228 million (£183.3 million) supermax pact with the Bucks.

However, if such an agreement is made, Antetokounmpo may be granted unrestricted free agency following the 2024–2025 campaign, which would entice the Bucks to the negotiation table if the Warriors attempt to sign the star.

Historically, Giannis Antetokounmpo has valued loyalty greatly. The Greek Freak guided the Bucks to victory in 2021 after sticking with them through thick and thin. So in many respects, he has already completed all of his obligations to the city.
