About Logan Sargeant: Formula One Star From USA Set For Debut Season With Williams Racing

On the weekend of the US Grand Prix in October 2021, Sargeant’s admission to the Williams Driver Academy was made public. At the post-season test at the Yas Marina Circuit, he drove the Williams FW43B and experienced his first taste of F1 equipment. He called his first experience driving an F1 vehicle the “experience of a lifetime.”

At the 2022 US Grand Prix, Sargeant made his Formula One practise debut with Williams.

Since Alexander Rossi in 2015, he was the first American driver to participate in a weekend session. Jost Capito, the team principal for Williams, said that Sargeant’s first free practise “was a delight and pressure for Sargeant.” For the second time, Sargeant piloted the Williams at the Mexico City Grand Prix and the Sao Paulo Grand Prix and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

American racing driver Logan Hunter Sargeant, who was born on December 31, 2000, will represent Williams Racing in Formula One. Before to this, he raced for Carlin Motorsport in the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship, where he finished fourth overall and was named Rookie of the Year.

He started his racing career at the young age of eight in karting and is scheduled to compete for the British team Williams in the 2023 Formula One season.

Since then, Sargeant has advanced swiftly in the world of racing, participating recently in both F3 and F2, and it was already revealed that Sargeant would be joining the Williams Driver School in October 2021.

Although F1 drivers don’t usually advance to the driver’s seat, his consistency and development have compelled his team to give him a seat for the next 2023 season.

Speaking to press recently, Sargeant touched upon his roots and how important it is for the sport to have another American driver amongst its ranks.

“Being the first American in a while is honestly such a privilege,” Sargeant said at the launch of Williams’ 2023 car, before adding: “It’s a great opportunity to represent my country to the best of my ability. Having three home grands prix is not something many, if anyone, has ever been able to say so I’m looking forward to being able to enjoy those moments. I just really see it as a privilege and an honour.”

Logan Sargeant’s Career Highlights

Before travelling to Europe to compete in famous karting events for young drivers including the WSK Euro Series, Trofeo Delle Industry, and the ROK Cup International Final, Sargeant raced around the United States.

He began earning prizes in 2015, and in 2016 he made his single-seater debut with Team Motopark in the Formula 4 UAE Championship. The American adapted to the format swiftly, demonstrating his lightning speed and smart decision-making along the way as he claimed 15 podium finishes during the 18 races that season.

He made his F3 debut in 2019 and won both his maiden race at Silverstone and his second race in Belgium at Spa. The future appeared promising, but in 2021, Sargeant was forced to return to F3 owing to financial constraints after postponing his promotion to F2.

He was fortunate to get his shot in F2 at the latter end of the 2021 season, racing in two races before securing a driving position with Carlin in 2022.

Sargeant won the F2 race at Silverstone the following July, becoming the first American driver to do so. After a second victory in Austria, Williams decided to promote Sargeant to the F1 class for 2023 after seeing performances deserving of the Rookie of the Season award.

It’s difficult to say just how well Sargeant will perform this season, though expectations aren’t too high given Williams’ recent struggles on the track.
