Aaron Rodgers Advise To Zach Wilson Aged Poorly: “Get Out Of There, You’re Going To Lose Your Mind”

The NFL’s teams are a family. Any squad you choose will almost always have close-knit members. This occasionally includes athletes who are on different teams. One such instance appears to be the friendship between veteran Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and second-year Jets quarterback Zach Wilson.

Zach Wilson reportedly received some terrible advise from Aaron Rodgers.

There are considerable doubts about whether the New York Jets will ever trade off the second overall pick after Wilson’s second season with the team was a complete failure.

Aaron Rodgers Advise To Zach Wilson Aged Poorly: “Get Out Of There, You’re Going To Lose Your Mind”

NFL insider Ian Rapoport recalls an incident that exemplifies the bond between these two when speaking on “The Pat McAfee Show” Apparently, Rodgers casually inquired about Wilson’s location during a conversation during the summer. Rodgers yelled, “Get out of there,” when he saw Wilson enter the Jets’ facility at 6 p.m. on a Friday during the offseason. You’re going to go insane.

Rodgers calls Zach Wilson in the summer, and it’s a Friday at like 6 PM. And they’re chatting, and I guess Rodgers had kind of helped him with some stuff and given him some advice. At some point he stops, and he’s like, ‘Where are you right now? Are you in the meeting room? You’re in the facility at 6 PM on a Friday in the offseason?’ [Wilson] is like, ‘Yeah,’ and Rodgers basically told him, ‘Get out of there. You’re going to lose your mind.’ Now, he needed to play better football this year, but he works very hard.

Rapoport could only respond with “sources” when Pat McAfee questioned him about where he had learned this information. Rapoport’s report was quickly refuted on Twitter by NBC’s Albert Breer, who referred readers to a piece he had written in late June of last year. Although there are minor differences in the details between the two reports of the incident, the basic narrative is the same: Most likely, Rodgers has a special place in heart for Wilson.

Basically, try to do less.

The humorous tale actually reveals that Zach Wilson may have overworked himself when he was first starting out. Instead of taking his time to study, he put more strain on himself by trying to absorb information too quickly.

This Rapoport tale wouldn’t even be a story if Zach Wilson wasn’t playing hard and putting up impressive stats. It would not be noticed. It wouldn’t even be significant.

But as we all know, Zach Wilson’s case in 2022 was quite different. He was put on the bench, and his statistics weren’t great.

Wilson had a dismal 54.5 completion percentage, 1,688 passing yards, six touchdowns, and seven interceptions by the end of the season. With a quarterback performing at that level, you will not be a dominant team in the NFL.
