Aaron Judge Takes The Prestigious Position: Titled 16th New York Yankees Captain
After agreeing to a nine-year, $360 million contract with the Yankees earlier this month, Aaron Judge will remain a member of the team for the foreseeable future. A new title that furthers his status in New York mythology comes along with the enormous contract.
On Wednesday, the Yankees made the captaincy announcement by holding a press conference. Aaron Judge. Since Derek Jeter’s retirement in 2014, he has served as the team’s 16th captain.
Hal Steinbrenner, the owner of the New York Yankees, said: “It is my great joy to welcome Aaron, not just back to the Bronx, but to welcome Aaron back to the Bronx as the 16th captain of this wonderful organisation. “A position and a distinction he rightfully deserves.”

Aaron Judge expressed his surprise. It is a true honour when you consider the list of those who have attained this distinction. The slugger signed the largest contract in Yankees history after hitting a record-breaking 62 home runs in 2022. Despite receiving tempting offers from both the San Francisco Giants and the San Diego Padres, Judge finally decided to stay with the organisation that drafted him in the first round of the 2013 draught, the San Diego Padres.

Aaron Judge said he had to take other free-agent teams into consideration but did not want to leave New York. Judge insisted that even though he knew in his heart where he wanted to be, this process had taught him a crucial lesson. It helped him understand where he fit in clearly.

He hit an American League record 62 home runs in 2022, adding 131 RBIs and on .311/.425/.686 batting for the year. He made his fourth All-Star Game and won the American League MVP award, carrying the Yankees to the postseason.
