A.J. Brown Denies Beef With Jalen Hurts, Explains The Heated Sideline Exchange

A.J. Brown, the Eagles’ wide receiver, said his “emotions were high” during last week’s victory over the Minnesota Vikings, but said his impassioned sideline conversation with Jalen Hurts was not indicative of a rift between himself and his quarterback.

Last week, the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football. The Eagles built a 20-point lead in the third quarter and seemed to be in perfect command. Despite the advantage, wide receiver AJ Brown went off on quarterback Jalen Hurts on the bench.

After building a 27-7 lead in the third quarter, Philadelphia took command. The Vikings lowered the Eagles’ advantage to 27-13, but the Eagles had an opportunity to put the game away just after the fourth quarter began. After the third quarter, with the ball in Vikings territory, the teams traded sides.

During the intermission, cameras captured a heated exchange between Brown and Hurts. Coaches intervened to break up the debate.

Hurts cleared the air after the game, stating that there was no feud and that both players were only seeking to win. Brown recently addressed the situation, clarifying that the argument was not sparked by fewer targets.

“Whatever the discussion, you know, this is a game that we both love and, and I want everybody to understand that sometimes emotions are high. And that’s kind of what happened to you know, that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world doesn’t mean me and Jalen are beefing.”

“It was not about targets, you know, I’m sure everybody thought that because he threw the ball in a row afterward but no, it’s not over the targets or whatever the case might be, was something that happened earlier and we was having a discussion about it.

“So, I know everybody took that out of context but it’s not a big deal, me and him are still on the same page, we’re still growing. I’m still trying to become great and win most importantly.”

Brown, who had four catches for 29 yards, left the stadium after the Eagles’ 34-28 victory without speaking to the media.

“The reason I left after the game is because my emotion was high, so I had to remove myself. Because I know [the media] wants a story and you all are doing your job … but I just had to clear my mind before [talking],” he said.

The Eagles offense is off to a rough start, headed by A.J. Brown, Jalen Hurts, and DeVonta Smith. Despite winning both of their first two games, there is still much room for improvement.
