Born on July 3, 1990, Anders Mark Lee is an American professional ice hockey player who serves as captain of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) New York Islanders. Lee played ice hockey for the Fighting Irish team while he was a student at the University of Notre Dame. In the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, the Islanders selected him with the 151st overall pick in the sixth round.

Anders became the Islanders’ fifteenth captain at the start of the 2018–19 season following John Tavares’ trade to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Anders and the Islanders agreed to a new seven-year, $49 million contract on July 1, 2019, which will run from the end of the 2019–20 season to the end of the 2025–26 season. The deal is valued at an average of $7 million annually.

The Islanders announced on March 17, 2021, that Lee would need surgery to repair a ruptured ACL he had suffered six days earlier in a collision with New Jersey Devils forward Pavel Zacha. Lee would therefore miss the balance of the 2020–21 season.

On March 10, 2022, Lee scored his first NHL hat-trick against the Columbus Blue Jackets in a 6–0 victory.
