Why Did Angel Reese Avoid LSU-South Carolina Scuffle?

Highest-ranked Dawn Staley won her eighth SEC title in a decade on Sunday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, as South Carolina defeated No. 5 LSU 79-72. The battle with Kim Mulkey and the reigning national champions was tough. With that happened a scuffle for which everyone was present but Angel Reese.

Why Did Angel Reese Avoid LSU-South Carolina Scuffle?

Flau’jae Johnson of LSU made an effort to thwart MiLaysia Fulwiley’s late steal. Kamilla Cardoso of South Carolina struck back, forcing Johnson to the ground.

There was further fighting when Hailey Van Lith, Johnson’s teammate, charged up and challenged Cardoso. Both teams had a number of players expelled. Due to fighting, Cardoso will miss the NCAA tournament’s opening round.

Everything went crazy when Flau’jae Johnson was pushed by Kamilla Cardoso at mid-court during the last quarter. After both benches were cleared, Johnson’s brother emerged from the bleachers, crossed the barrier, and attempted to assist his sister.

But Reese was not in the slightest way interested in joining.

Emmanuel Acho of Fox Sports 1 retweeted game video right before the altercation started. Reese sat at the end of the bench, contentedly walking away from the action while Tigers players hurried to help Johnson.

Hours after the game, Kamilla Cardoso took to social media to apologize for her role in the scuffle.

She wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “I would like to extend my sincerest apologies for my actions during today’s game. My behavior was not representative of who I am as a person or the South Carolina program, and I deeply regret any discomfort or inconvenience it may have caused. I take full responsibility for my actions and assure you that I am committed to conducting myself with the utmost respect and sportsmanship in the future.”

In a multitude of sports, the greatest players on a team will almost always do their hardest to break up a fight, even if they aren’t the one starting it. It is the action of a good leader.

Even while Reese isn’t LSU’s captain, it doesn’t mean she can relax and let her squad do the grubby job of breaking up fights while she takes a break.

Oh, and she did good early in the game when she tried to start fights with Cardoso. She believes that initiating a quarrel is OK, but she won’t assist in resolving one.

Why did LSU and South Carolina players get ejected?

A brawl that started in the fourth quarter of the SEC championship game between South Carolina and LSU resulted in the dismissal of six players. Kamilla Cardoso, a talented player from South Carolina, was expelled for fighting and will not play in the NCAA tournament’s opening round.

Which players were ejected in the LSU game?

Aaliyah Del Rosario and Janae Kent from LSU, Chloe Kitts of South Carolina, Tessa Johnson and Sakima Walker of South Carolina, and Cardoso were the other players dismissed for leaving the bench area. Following the disqualifications, LSU had just five players remaining in its starting lineup.

What is Angel Reese famous for?

And she was for the most part of the season. With 34 double-doubles in a single season, she broke the NCAA record. She also led the SEC in scoring and rebounds in conference play. Reese was among the most well-known athletes in the nation by the offseason.
