Can We Expect A New Connection: QB J.J. McCarthy & Giants?
With the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine behind us, we have another significant piece of the draft jigsaw to analyze, but the arrival of free agency will soon alter the landscape once again. I haven’t included any trade forecasts in my initial mock, even though we all know that teams will make those trades as draft day approaches. With that can we expect the Giants to sign QB J.J. McCarthy?
Can We Expect A New Connection: QB J.J. McCarthy & Giants?
In the first round, I do have five quarterbacks selected. Some may find it surprising, but I won’t be astonished if six players, including Michael Penix Jr. of Washington, are eliminated in the first round. People, get used to it.
The Giants, who hold the No. 6 pick and four total picks in the top 70, now have the second-best odds to select McCarthy after being on the outskirts of the conversation only a few days ago.

The Giants’ quarterback position is the subject of a lot of talk. The Giants are still interested in the position, according to a number of well-connected insiders and draft experts, who have also flagged them as a club to monitor or maybe move up.
Additionally, throughout the 2023 season, Giants General Manager Joe Schoen not only personally scouted each of the best quarterback prospects at least once (and typically a several times), but the Giants also had official meetings with each of the prospects.
Throwdown Thursday 👊💢

One of the highlights of the combine was Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy, whose draft stock increased significantly in 2023 and 2024.
The only team that is ahead of them in the FanDuel Sportsbook standings to choose the Michigan quarterback is the Broncos (+470), who said on Tuesday that they will release Russell Wilson and will also own the No. 12 choice in the draft in April.
Included in the mix are the Vikings (+550), Falcons (+600), and Patriots (+900). All other teams are at least 10/1.
.@LRiddickESPN doesn't believe the Giants should draft J.J. McCarthy at No. 6.

Team to draft JJ McCarthy in the 2024 NFL Draft
Team | Odds |
---|---|
Denver Broncos | +470 |
New York Giants | +500 |
Minnesota Vikings | +550 |
Atlanta Falcons | +600 |
New England Patriots | +900 |
Las Vegas Raiders | 10/1 |
Seattle Seahawks | 14/1 |
Washington Commanders | 18/1 |
If the Giants think McCarthy will be available with a later pick, they may potentially choose to trade down in order to obtain additional draft money or assets.
The Giants have quarterback Daniel Jones under contract until the 2026 campaign, but after that year, they may choose to opt out.

Does JJ McCarthy have a girlfriend?
Off the pitch, his fiancée Katya Kuropas was at his side. When both Kuropas and the Michigan quarterback were still in high school at Nazareth Academy, they started dating.
How does J.J. McCarthy meditate?
McCarthy undertakes breath exercises, which entail holding his nose and shutting his month after he takes a seat beneath the goalpost. Additionally, he inhales deeply, filling his lungs with air, and exhales through his nose.
