Steelers Have “Internal Division” On Who To Pick As Starters: Kenny Pickett Vs Mason Rudolph
There isn’t a certain No. 1 quarterback for the Steelers. Furthermore, it appears that there isn’t a consensus within the building about the ideal quarterback. Kenny Pickett Vs Mason Rudolph!
Mason Rudolph performed well toward the conclusion of the season, thus according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac, “there appears to be some internal division that maybe Mason Rudolph should be the starter.”

Naturally, the expectation when Kenny Pickett was selected in the first round two years ago was that he would succeed Ben Roethlisberger. But Rudolph showed up when Pickett had an ankle injury late in the season, and the Steelers quietly benched Pickett in favor of the veteran who had dropped to the bottom of the depth chart and was all but forgotten.
Next month, Rudolph is expected to become a free agent. It’s not a given he’ll return to Pittsburgh. Where else, however, would he get a chance to be the starter?
I guess Kenny Picket is not their long term QB https://t.co/rm9zEefZPA

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Saturday, “there appears to be some internal division that maybe Mason Rudolph should be the starter,” since he played well down the stretch as the team made the playoffs. This comes after the team started three different quarterbacks this past season and was rumored to be looking to either trade or draft a new starter this offseason.
Throughout the 2023 season, Pickett sustained injuries on occasion. An ankle sprain in Week 13 necessitated surgery, which kept him out of action for the rest of the campaign. Mitchell Trubisky was the first player the Steelers looked to replace him, but Rudolph finally took over and ignited the offense.

In the final three weeks of the season, Rudolph went 3-0 as the starter, helping Pittsburgh secure a postseason berth. The club lost to the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card Round, despite his passing for 229 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
With Mason Rudolph playing well in the final stretch as the club advanced to the playoffs, “there appears to be some internal division that maybe Mason Rudolph should be the starter,” the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported on Saturday. This comes after it was reported that the team was trying to either trade or draft a new starting quarterback this summer after starting three different quarterbacks in the previous campaign.
