Patrick Mahomes Father Got Arrested For The Third Time, Mahomes Family Is In Trouble Amid Super Bowl

The father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes II, Patrick Mahomes Sr., was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) in Texas, his third or more DUI violation. This put him in legal hot water once more.

According to TMZ, the 53-year-old was placed under arrest on Saturday night; a bond hearing is scheduled for later. Charges of DUI had been brought against Mahomes Sr. before this occurrence.

He was previously jailed for 40 days in 2019 after being arrested for DUI. He did, however, fulfill the terms of his sentence by serving this time on weekends.

Given that his son is about to play in the Super Bowl versus the San Francisco 49ers, the timing of this most recent arrest could not be more problematic. In one of the biggest athletic events of the year, the younger Mahomes, a rising star in the NFL, is ready to guide his team.

Mahomes Sr. has gained notoriety lately for purposes unrelated to his son’s football exploits. He made headlines just a few weeks ago when he made a joke about not wanting to sit next to Taylor Swift during the AFC Conference Championship game.

When asked if he would share a suit with Swift, he cracked jokes with Evan Roberts of WFAN Sports Radio, “I hope not.”

“No, I don’t think so. Travis normally has his own thing and Patrick has his own deal too.”

“And I imagine if Taylor wants her own suite, she’s got enough money to get whichever one she wants.”

He may not even be able to support his son at the Super Bowl on February 11 due to his legal issues right now.
