The accused players were recognized for winning the World Junior Championships at a fundraising banquet hosted by Hockey Canada in June 2018, which coincided with an alleged group sexual assault.
Note that Canada does not have a statute of limitations for sexual assault.

A lady going under the name E.M. allegedly filed a lawsuit in April 2022, requesting $3.55 million in damages from Hockey Canada, the Canadian Hockey League, and eight anonymous players.
